ProofPulse – Documentation
Version 1.0.0. Requires WordPress 6.4+ and PHP 7.4+. WooCommerce is optional (needed for sales and stock popups).
Show real recent sales, reviews, signups and live viewers. Add honest low-stock badges and countdowns. No jQuery, privacy-first.
Description
ProofPulse shows real activity on your site: “Mike from Toronto just bought Leather Wallet”, “7 people are viewing this right now”, “Only 3 left in stock” and sale countdowns. It runs in one small vanilla script that loads after the page has finished loading.
- Recent WooCommerce sales, reviews, signups, manual entries, CSV import, a JSON feed URL and an inbound webhook.
- Low-stock badge, “sold in the last 24 hours” badge, countdown timers (fixed date, product sale end date, daily cutoff) and a live viewer counter.
- 8 templates, 4 positions, live preview in the campaign editor.
- Display rules by page, post type, product category, product, WooCommerce page, URL, device, visitor type, role and schedule.
- Impressions, clicks, CTR and assisted orders, with an inline SVG chart and CSV export.
- Privacy-first: anonymized names (city only), a checkout opt-out, consent support (WP Consent API, Complianz, CookieYes, Cookiebot), automatic data retention, privacy exporter and eraser.
- Real data only by default. Optional demo mode labels every bubble “Demo” and switches itself off after 7 days.
- Works without WooCommerce. HPOS compatible. 5 blocks and 5 shortcodes. Translation-ready and RTL.
- No jQuery, no external requests from the visitor’s browser, no fonts or libraries loaded from other sites.
Full documentation: docs/documentation.html inside the plugin folder (also linked from ProofPulse > Setup Guide).
Installation
- Upload the zip in Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, then activate it.
- Open ProofPulse > Setup Guide and follow the steps.
- With WooCommerce, the enabled “Recent sales” campaign starts showing real orders straight away.
Frequently Asked Questions
Nothing appears on my site
Notifications only use real activity inside the campaign’s look-back window (72 hours by default). Check that the campaign is enabled, the page is not excluded (checkout is excluded by default), consent is granted if Consent mode is on, and clear your page cache.
Does it work with page caching?
Yes. The page only contains a small config object. Notifications come from a REST request that is cacheable for 60 seconds.
Does it work without WooCommerce?
Yes. Use the Signups, Reviews (blog comments), Manual/CSV, JSON feed or Webhook sources.
Can a customer hide their purchase?
Yes. Keep the checkout opt-out on (ProofPulse > Privacy). Ticked orders are never shown.
Privacy
ProofPulse stores an anonymized display name, city and country for each activity row, and a salted hash of the email so the WordPress privacy exporter and eraser can find it. The viewer counter uses a random ID in the browser’s session storage and does not store IP addresses. Clicking a notification sets a first-party cookie (ppulse_ref) for 24 hours to count assisted orders. The plugin never contacts outside servers, except the optional JSON feed URL that you enter yourself.
