Creating a Backup

Navigate to Tools > Backup Verifier and click Back Up Now. The plugin creates a full snapshot of your files and database, generates SHA-256 checksums for every file, and stores everything in a single verified archive.

Verification

Every backup is automatically verified using SHA-256 integrity checks. After creation, the plugin confirms that every file in the archive matches its recorded checksum. A backup marked Verified is guaranteed to be restorable.

Restoring a Backup

Click Restore next to any verified backup. The plugin checks integrity before restoring, then replaces your files and imports the database. Your site returns to the exact state captured in that backup.

Remote Destinations (Pro)

The Pro version supports sending backups to remote storage:

Configure destinations under Settings > Backup Verifier > Destinations. Each backup job can send to multiple destinations simultaneously.

Incremental Backups (Pro)

After the first full backup, subsequent runs back up only files that changed since the last run. This reduces backup time and storage usage significantly on large sites.

Pre-Update Backups (Pro)

Enable automatic backups before WordPress core, theme, or plugin updates. If an update breaks your site, restore instantly from the pre-update snapshot.

Site Migration (Pro)

Export a verified backup and import it on another WordPress installation. The plugin handles URL replacement and database prefix changes automatically.

Database Encryption (Pro)

Enable AES-256 encryption for database dumps within your backup archives. Encryption keys are managed locally and never leave your server.

External Services

The free version makes no external connections. The Pro version contacts:

No analytics or telemetry are collected by either version.

Uninstalling

Deactivate and delete through the WordPress dashboard. By default, all backup data is preserved. To remove everything, enable "Delete all data on uninstall" in Settings before deleting.
