Version 1.0.0. Requires WordPress 6.4+, PHP 7.4+, WooCommerce 8.0+, and the PHP GD or Imagick image library on the server (photo uploads are re-encoded).

Photo and video reviews, star summary with histogram, review request emails with optional reward coupons, and product Q&A. Works with WooCommerce.

Description

ReviewLens upgrades the reviews your store already has. Reviews stay native WooCommerce reviews, so there is nothing to import and nothing is locked in.

  • Photo and video uploads on the product page review form and on an emailed one-click review page
  • Every image is re-encoded on your server, which removes EXIF/GPS data and hidden payloads
  • Star summary with a clickable 5 to 1 histogram, “% would recommend”, customer photo strip and lightbox
  • Filters and sorting (rating, with photos/videos, verified, most helpful, highest, lowest) with REST pagination
  • Helpful votes, verified-buyer badges, store responses and a report link
  • Optional review title, pros/cons, recommendation question and per-category rating criteria
  • Review request emails scheduled with Action Scheduler, with one optional reminder, unsubscribe link and checkout consent checkbox
  • Optional reward coupons (a bigger reward for photo/video reviews) with an “incentive received” label
  • Product Questions & Answers tab: store answers, verified-owner answers, upvotes and “notify me when answered” emails
  • Blocks, shortcodes and a classic widget: summary, review list, carousel, grid, media wall, rating badge, Q&A
  • Adds aggregateRating and reviews to the WooCommerce Product schema (one Product node)
  • Spam protection: honeypot, time trap, per-visitor rate limits, keyword holds, Akismet (when active) and optional Cloudflare Turnstile
  • Moderation screen with media thumbnails, bulk actions, filters and quick replies
  • CSV export and import, personal data exporter/eraser, HPOS and Cart/Checkout blocks compatible

All emails are WooCommerce emails, so they use your WooCommerce email design and can be edited under WooCommerce > Settings > Emails.

Installation

  1. Upload the plugin zip under Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, then activate it. WooCommerce must be active.
  2. Go to WooCommerce > ReviewLens and review each tab.
  3. Your existing reviews show straight away with the new summary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my existing reviews still work?

Yes. ReviewLens reads and writes normal WooCommerce reviews.

What happens if I delete the plugin?

Nothing is removed unless you tick “Delete ReviewLens data” under Import/Export & Tools. Even then your WooCommerce reviews are never deleted.

Are uploaded files public right away?

No. Media for reviews waiting for approval is kept in a protected folder with a random name and is only shown to moderators through a permission check. It moves to the public uploads folder when the review is approved.

Does it work on nginx?

Yes. Held media is never linked publicly and is served only through PHP to users who can moderate comments. Optionally add location ~* /uploads/reviewlens/held/ { deny all; } to your nginx config.

External services

ReviewLens does not contact any external service by default.

Cloudflare Turnstile (optional). Only when the site owner turns on Turnstile under Moderation & spam and enters their own keys, review and question forms load the Turnstile widget from https://challenges.cloudflare.com/turnstile/v0/api.js. When a form is submitted, the Turnstile response token, the site’s secret key and the visitor’s IP address are sent to https://challenges.cloudflare.com/turnstile/v0/siteverify to check that the visitor is human. Akismet (optional). If the Akismet plugin is active, reviews pass through WordPress’s normal comment checks and Akismet handles them under its own terms. ReviewLens does not send anything to Akismet itself.
